Old Man Old Year

Old Man Old Year is a collection of images made on the last day of the year, 2022, while roaming a corner of North Goa. We see Goa’s much loved Old Man - a homemade scarecrow-like figure made each year by groups of youngsters. He is made up of several elements - dry grass innards, bamboo skeleton, wearing old clothes, old shoes, a head of repurposed utilitarian objects.

The Old Man sits waiting for the clock to strike 12. At that moment, he will burst into flames, and we will say goodbye to the old year’s sorrows. See you next year.
